It’s not always smooth sailing for Ospreys (Pandion haliaetus) when fishing. Not only can they miss the target, but sometimes the prey fights back! This cutlass fish was making sure this osprey at least lost a good bit of feathers before it went down the gullet! One suspects this particular osprey has not been long in the game, as the more experienced ones will catch the fish grasping it right behind the head or neck, preventing it from retaliating (see last photo).
